Guidance on Water and Adaptation to Climate Change

Water resources are vulnerable and already affected by climate change and variability with wide-ranging consequences for societies, their health, economies and the natural environment. Many countries in the UNECE region have already experienced severe impacts from extreme events and disasters. It is likely that anthropogenic climate change (change caused by human activities) will exacerbate the severity and frequency of those events, as well as affecting the region’s water resources in other ways, e.g. through changing precipitation patterns. The need is to adapt now.
