Euwi - European Water Initiative

Knowledge brokering strategies and instruments offer opportunities to facilitate interaction between policymakers and researchers in an attempt to relate science,experience and insight to policy. Role playing and simulation games, group model building, scenario planning and futures visioning exercises are just some examples for creating two-way conversations between policy-makers and the research community. Funded under EC FP7, the PSI-connect project works to develop, test and disseminate effective knowledge brokering practices.

What participants will learn about
Designed for participants to develop an understanding of knowledge brokering processes and instruments. Its focus is
on appreciating the challenges to and approaches for linking policy and science.
 Knowledge brokering and how it can support the bridging of the policy-science gap.
 Specific knowledge brokering tools work, their benefits and weaknesses.
What participants will do
 Utilise case studies and exercises to explore different knowledge brokering methods and instruments.
 Explore how knowledge brokering instruments can be used in their particular circumstances through exercises
and a facilitated discussion.
 Reflect on the challenges they are likely to face in applying knowledge brokering instruments in their situation.
