ACP-EU Water Facility : deadline for submission for Water Sanitation and Hygiene promotion call

Deadline for submission for the call for Proposals entitled "Water, Sanitation and Hygiene Promotion for the Millennium Development Goals" published on the 11th of February 2010;

This Call for Proposals addresses the first objective of the Water Facility. The purpose is to provide funding for water and sanitation basic infrastructure and hygiene promotion projects, focussing on the most vulnerable and needy in rural and peri-urban areas, promoting the use of small-scale appropriate technologies, and leading to improvements in health, education and socio-economic development.

Each water, sanitation and hygiene project must have the active involvement of local partners (non State actors and/or local government) in project identification, selection of activities and implementation.

The call has one step: a short concept note and full application form are submitted together. Following an evaluation, those projects selected may be notified of an award of contract as from October 2010 (indicative timing only).

All the documents necessary to submit a proposal are now available. For any question regarding this Call, please contact the helpdesk.

    Collaboration on ACP-EU Call

    Hi,

    I‘m writing with regard to the Water, Sanitation and Hygiene Promotion for the Millennium Development Goals Call for Proposals. I was wondering whether anyone was actively working on this, or had a connection to anyone who is?

    We are an NGO (The German Toilet Organization based in Berlin) with a wealth of experience in hygiene promotion in LDCs and most recently have developed, through funding from the UN, an educational programme called “My School Loo”, which has been successfully rolled out across a number of schools in the Philippines. We would very much like to develop this concept further and would ideally like to find partners specialising in sanitation/water construction with whom we could share expertise and make a combined proposal under the abovementioned call. You can see examples of the type of materials we have to offer at www.sanitation-is-dignity.org

    If anyone is interested, please don’t hesitate to get in touch so we can discuss this further.

    Best wishes,

    David
